DAY 1 | MANDURIA – TARANTO | 55 km / difference in altitude + 570 m
A ring-shaped tour across hilly routes. On the first day you will discover the heavenly Primitivo Land along with its shrub-type vineyards and its fields, before heading towards the sea, or rather two seas: The Mar Grande and the Mar Piccolo of Taranto.
DAY 2 | TARANTO – CASTELLANETA | 66 km / difference in altitude + 1200 m
From the waves of the sea, it is necessary to climb up to the hills. Here you will be surrounded by the colors of a new and amazing scenery. This landscape is typical for its karstic areas and rich vegetation: Terra delle Gravine. Enjoy this unforgettable ride through historic towns and sheep-tracks that will give you a glimpse of the wonderful cliffs. Then straight on to Castellaneta.
DAY 3 | CASTELLANETA – MATERA | 43 km / difference in altitude + 870 m
See you soon Apulia! It’s time to discover the naturalistic, scenic and cultural riches of Basilicata. A little sweet escape from the ravine to the Murgia Materana. A few kilometers from Laterza (the last town in the province of Taranto) and close to a ravine created by the erosion of a torrent, emerges the ancient Matera. Matera, also renowned as the European Capital of Culture in the year 2019, will make you feel the throbbing emotions of cycling through the stones.
DAY 4 | MATERA – NOCI | 57 km / difference in altitude + 600 m
We reverse course again by returning to Apulia. Moving from the Murgia Materana to the Murgia Pugliese, you will notice the salient features of these natural landscapes that the two areas have in common. Passing through Gioia del Colle, we will land in Noci town and discover its characteristic historic center.
DAY 5 | NOCI – OSTUNI | 52 km / difference in altitude + 900 m
Wonders never cease. We set out to explore Itria Valley, that will leave you speechless. The itinerant tour will lead us to the discovery of trulli and dry stone walls. Then the scenery will change once again and we will be surrounded by the whiteness of the town of Ostuni. The view of Ostuni involuntarily hypnotizes the tourist, even if he or she has already visited it countless times before. You will be surprised to see the splendor of the bright houses sprouting among the majestic olive trees of the plain.
DAY 6
We have arrived at the end of this sensational tour. The return to Manduria is marked by the discovery of fascinating historic centers located between Ceglie Messapica and Oria. This is considered as the last taste of this experience in Apulia. An authentic experience full of unforgettable colors, fragrances and flavors that will leave indelible memories in your mind and on your skin.
